The reason for picking up a heavy nucleus for this test is as follows. One may think that the heavier the nucleus is, the smaller the necessary mesh size is because the number of radial nodes in single-particle wavefunctions increases. On the other hand, the saturation property of the nuclear matter suggests that the involved maximum linear momentum is independent of the mass number. We want to see which statement is true in a quantitative way.
